Our family’s connection to The Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformations became deeply personal when Bella was diagnosed with a cavernous malformation. What followed was a journey filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions, and ultimately brain surgery. Today, Bella is doing fantastic, and we are incredibly grateful for the care, research, and support that helped get her here.
But our story is not the end of the story. Since Bella’s diagnosis, we have learned of several other people affected by CCM, each facing their own challenges and unknowns. While surgery was the right treatment for Bella, it is currently one of the few options available, and it comes with significant risks and challenges.
We support Strides to Cure CCM because we believe patients and families deserve better. We hope to help advance research that leads to safer treatments, earlier detection, and ultimately a cure. Even though Bella is thriving today, the possibility of future CCMs remains, and we want a future where no family has to face the same fears and limited treatment options that so many do today.
