On September 24th, 2023 I rushed our 11 year old to the hospital after he began suffering stroke symptoms. Even as a healthcare worker who had seen stroke patients on a weekly basis, I still didn't believe that my son was actually experiencing a stroke. That night we learned that our little boy had a hemorrhagic mass in his brain. A few months later we discovered that the mass was a CCM and it had bled multiple times. The doctors told us it was a miracle he could move his left side at all. On December 4th, talented neurosurgeons removed the CCM and now, my boy, The Beast, is almost back to normal. He has even been able to participate in his favorite sport, ice hockey. He enjoys playing the saxophone and his favorite subject is math.

I want to raise money to research cavernous malformations and hopefully help others who are going through this. September 24th was the scariest night of my life. After seeing his MRI, I really wasn't sure if I would be bringing a kid home from the hospital. I'm so grateful for how far research has come and that there was a solution for my son's brain bleed but there is still much more to learn. Please consider donating today.
