2022 8th Annual Sip and Support Torrington Wine Tasting

I am excited to inform you that we have a new name! To celebrate our 20th year in the search to find a

treatment and ultimately a cure to a devastating illness, Angioma Alliance will now be known as Alliance to Cure

Cavernous Malformation. For now, the names can be used interchangeably. We have changed the name to be

more in-line with the medical, clinical, and scientific communities. On a global scale, cavernous malformation is

the more highly recognized term for angioma. The name change reflects momentum towards finding a cure for

patients suffering from cavernous malformation, a blood vessel disorder causing strokes and seizures that

affects at least 360,000 people in the U.S. alone.

As you most likely know, this is an organization that is near and dear to me. Cavernous malformation or

angioma is a disease that has affected 4 generations of my family. I am happy to say that this year we have been

relatively healthy with only minor setbacks. But there are many families that weren’t so lucky. Hundreds of

brain surgeries were performed to either stop the bleeding or remove the lesions. Many people who were

healthy last year are now in wheelchairs and can no longer walk or have suffered debilitating seizures and can

no longer live a normal life. And then, there are those who have lost someone they love.

This year will be the eighth year that the Binding Source and Ponte’s Package Store will be hosting the

Annual Angioma Alliance Wine Tasting to benefit the only non-profit, 501c3 organization whose goal is to find a

less invasive way to treat this disease. On September 16, 2022, the Torrington Country Club will be opening its

doors and outdoor patio for our enjoyment, providing an elegant atmosphere to gather with friends and family

and provide mouthwatering hors-d'oeuvres, Fascia’s will be indulging us with their delectable chocolate treats,

Ponte’s Package Store will be providing an assortment of wines, beer, and liquors, all while Anne DeMichiel and

Brian Mattiello entertain us with their gift of song. Please join us on September 16th to Sip and Support the fight
